Childbirth is one of life's greatest miracles. There is nothing that can compare to the first moment you hear your child crying, knowing they are healthy and that you have a lifetime of memories to be had with them. However, not everyone gets to be there for this special moment. Unfortunately, many soldiers are faced with hard times when it comes to the birth of their child. All too often they are deployed during their loved one's pregnancy, and must be far away during childbirth.
But with technology comes opportunity, and Corporal Greg Bacon got to experience just that. The soldier had been stationed in Iraq during his wife's pregnancy and knew he would not be able to be physically present with her through the delivery, but that didn't stop him from finding a way. With the help of the American Red Cross and Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Bacon was able to witness the huge moment via Skype.
Bacon Watched In And Gave His Wife Encouraging Words
Though he was not there physcially, hearing his voice helped Jennifer through the scary time. She told WGN-TV News, "It was very comforting hearing his voice and seeing him even though he wasn't there to hold my hand."
Upon seeing the birth of his sweet baby boy, you can hear Corporal Bacon choking up as he sees his son.
